Val des Dix VS
Our honey from Valais comes from beekeeper Patrick Bourdin. Patrick lives in Euseigne, a commune in the Val d'Hérens. The bee colonies for the alpine honey from alpuris are in the Val des Dix, just around the corner from Patrick's place of residence.
The Essertze site in the Val des Dix is around 2000m above sea level. , with a wonderful view of the 4000m mountains of Valais. Only six bee colonies live in this unique place in the middle of the free Alpine nature, and their honey is reserved exclusively for alpuris.
The Val des Dix
is a side valley on the south side of the Rhone in the canton of Valais, which begins at the dam of Lac des Dix and extends to the Cheilongletscher at the foot of Mont Blanc de Cheilon. The Val des Dix forms the upper part of the Val d'Hérémence . The Dixence torrent flows in the valley and later flows into the Borgne. A legend says that the name comes from a fight against 10 (dix) Saracens.
The Val d'Herence
is also a side valley of the Rhone in Valais. The German name is Eringertal (known from the Eringer cows). The Val d'Hérence accompanies the mountain river Borgne, including its two source streams, for about 30 kilometers to the north up to its mouth at Sion, overcoming an altitude difference of almost 1500 meters.
While the Val des Dix is very remote and wildly romantic, tourism in the Val d'Hérens is very important. Both valleys are definitely worth seeing and are accessible via well-maintained hiking and mountain trails.
